DAY FIVE - January 1st, 2010 Kanpur

Well so much for a day off and sleeping in! We are woken early by our host to get ready as he has arranged for 6 of his rotary friends to come join us for breakfast. The men are all really friendly and very excited to meet us! After breakfast we are given time to rest and catchup on emails and journaling. We arrange with our host to have our team members Lori & Betty Jo meet us to do some shopping. We are treated to a fabulous sweet pasta lunch then picked up and taken to the local mall. The malls are crowded and everyone stares at us as we shop. The deals are good here, cheap shoes, and jewelry but I just don’t seem to be in the mood to shop. I still haven’t replaced my camera but it seems to be to much trouble to find one today.. maybe in Agra I will try. We stop at a few street vendors to look for bangles, it is a very similar setup as they have in mexico, except the people here do not bother you or pester you to buy things which is nice! After our shopping we return home to get ready for our rotary dinner. At the meeting tonight we learn that in India, guests are like gods and are treated as such. So far I can say I have never been treated so well in any place in my life, India really knows how to host guests.
